I LOVE pizza, but hate the calories and carbs that come along with eating it. Even before pregnancy and a diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes I was on a journey to lose weight. I was always looking for a better way to enjoy the things I love without the guilt or pounds weighing me down.
One day In the grocery store I came across these Flatout Flatbread Wraps and pizza it became that night for dinner. The wraps do come in a variety of flavors, but I love these Italian herb ones for making pizzas.
Not only are these a guilt free and oh so delicious way to enjoy pizza, but it is a quick and easy meal perfect for busy week nights when all you want to do is stop for takeout!
So with out rambling on anymore about how wonderful these yummy pizzas are, let’s get to how I make my guilt free flatbread pizza
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place flatbread on a baking sheet and place into the oven for 2 minutes. I do this because it makes the wraps nice and crispy.
Take flatbread out and top with sauce, cheese, and your choice of toppings. I am a pepperoni girl all the way, but veggies, sausage, shredded chicken or any of your favorite toppings will work.
Place back into the oven and back for 7 more minutes to melt the cheese. If your like me and want you cheese a bit more golden brown go for 10 minutes instead of 7.
Remove from the oven, cool for a couple minutes, slice up, and enjoy! You can pair it with a salad and there you have a nice meal in less than 30 minutes!
Hope you give this a try and let me know what you think. Also feel free to share some of your favorite guilt free recipes. I love to try new things out all the time.
A couple weeks ago I posted my favorite recipes to make with strawberries (you can it find here) and in that post I mention using my strawberry & banana smoothie mixture to fill these Zipzicle (aff link) pouches. This got me thinking about what other mixture I could use to fill them. Since strawberries are still on sell, and still a huge pregnancy craving, I wanted to incorporate them again and thought why not make a strawberry lemonade mixture.

I already had everything on hand, so yesterday Nugget and I got in the kitchen and gave a try at making some Strawberry Lemonade Homemade Ice Pops. They were super quick to whip up, and made enough for a small trial batch. If you love this recipe, and I am sure you will, simply double to make a larger batch. You could also take this a step further by making fresh lemonade, but I had the powdered mix on hand and was looking for something easy and fun to do with Nugget in the kitchen.
Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Ice Pops
4oz Strawberries, Puréed
1 cup of water
1 scoop Powdered Lemonade – any brand will do.
Place strawberries in blender to purée.
Measure out 1 cup of water and add in 1 scoop of lemonade powder. Mix well.
Add purée to Lemonade and mix well.
Fill each Zipzicles (aff link) pouch with mixture and seal. I find it easiest to use a funnel for this.
Freeze and enjoy!
This recipe makes enough to fill 4 pouches. You will probably have a little extra, so add a little ice and enjoy as a drink.
I know we will be making these a lot as the hot summer days of the south soon approach, and I my hope is you will give them a try as well. This pregnancy has brought on a whole new set of cravings completely different from my pregnancy with Nugget. With her all I wanted to eat was french fries, ice cream, and cake donuts with chocolate milk. Now I admit I still have a sweet tooth, and I want to indulge at times with a treat like some of the ones below, but I am happy to report that this time around my cravings are a bit healthier.
In the early part I could not get enough broccoli, and protein in any form is what I still crave the most, but now we are over halfway to the finish line and I think I could eat my weight in strawberries. I guess it is a good thing they are coming in season and on sale at our local grocery store. So, I stocked up on this weeks 3 for $5 sale on strawberries.
Now for the most part I want them fresh out the carton, washed, and as a side with breakfast. Even frozen and blended in a smoothie will give me my strawberry fix, but with all these strawberries around it has got me thinking about some of my go to treats made with strawberries. I figured since I was already making a list of treats to make why not share it with all of you.
So without further ado, here are my TOP 5 recipes to make with strawberries…
HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY FRUIT ROLLUPS – These are Nugget’s favorite. I usually double the amount of strawberries and add sugar to taste (about 4-5 TBS) for a larger batch.
I mentioned freezing strawberries, and I love doing this for smoothies, so I wanted to give you all a BONUS RECIPE and share how I make my favorite STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE .
Throw a peeled banana, about 4-5 frozen or fresh strawberries, a container of low-fat vanilla greek yogurt, a handful of baby spinach, some ice, and a splash of water into a blender. Blend until smooth, pour in your favorite glass, and enjoy. You could also pour this mixture into Popsicle molds, or these Zipzicle (aff link) ice pop pouches, for a cool summer treat.
